A Master in the house
It sort of takes you by surprise, The Echo of a Noise.
A black surround, a bar stool at the front of the stage in a spotlight and that’s it! But there’s that feeling in the air that something special is going to happen.
The house lights dim and the recording of a boy soprano is heard as Pietie Uys, almost 14, walks onto the stage and takes his place on the stool in the middle of the floor, begging his Dad for his long pants!
What happens in the next 95 minutes is nothing short of theatrical brilliance!
150 people mesmerised by the story of a man who has been so much a part of our lives for so long just weaving a most marvellous, sometimes ordinary, always riveting tale of how and where and when.
Out of a need to satisfy the driving force to practice his craft, out of the incredible passion for his craft, his people, his land, to be seen, to be heard, to be noticed…….a noise was made.
Gratefully the echo is still being heard!
